Anthony "Chopper" Leone

For Northshore Freelance Photographer, Anthony “Chopper” Leone, his passion for picture-taking began with a gift - his first Brownie camera received during his mid-teens. With 60 years of photographic experience, his artistic gifts have sharpened to an amazingly vivid level of professionalism.

His collections include scenes from his world travels, but at home “Chopper” focuses his lens on the landscape and lore surrounding his Town of Madisonville, Louisiana. A community activist, he serves on the Board of the Lake Pontchartrain Basin Maritime Museum www. and is a Charter Member of the Tchefuncte Lighthouse Committee.

Leone has captured mystical moods of both Lake Pontchartrain and the Tchefuncte River in a series of Lighthouse photographs. These unique framed photographs - the Tchefuncte River Scenes donated to benefit the lighthouse restoration project, are available for purchase via giftshop@lpbmm.org.

Additionally, a Leone image of the Tchefuncte River Lighthouse has been selected by the State of Louisiana for a new license plate design. Proceeds from the numbered plates will be administered by the Lake Pontchartrain Basin Maritime Museum to benefit restoration of the Lighthouse and Lighthouse Keeper’s Cottage.

Leone’s love of Aquatic Artistry is evident through his images of Madisonville’s annual Wooden Boat Festival, including the special Woodworker’s Guild event, the Kid’s Boat Shop.

You can check out Leone's varied interests as seen through his published photographic style, featured in numerous websites, newspapers and magazines, including:
